Week commencing 21st September 2009 saw major work started to transform the EVR's southern terminus at Duffield in preparation for the whole lines reopening in October 2010.

Saturday 28th February 2009 and the first day of the home fleet diesel gala on a somewhat dismal (weatherwise!) Saturday morning.

 | 2nd Aug 2008 | Wirksworth - Idridgehay
A run from Wirksworth to Idridgehay with Derby Lightweight M79900 'Iris' providing the travel. Photographs taken from the front passenger seat on the 2nd August 2008. Hopefully, in a couple of years this section will expand somewhat and be re-titled Wirksworth - Duffield!

Saturday 8th March 2008 and the EVR's first breakout from Wirksworth to Idridgehay some 3 1/2 miles beyond. The mornings events and the first train are recorded.

In 2007 work began to increase the length of the short narrow gauge line for future use. Here we see stages of construction and eventually running trains!

 | 10th Jul 2007 | The Platform 2 Project
Started in early 2007, the platform 2 project prepared for the big move south, initially to Idrigehay and then beyond. Here we see the new platform virtually complete and not far from receiving its first passengers. All photos were taken on the 10th July 2007. Several photos of earlier construction work can be viewed in both the 'Big Brother Is Watching You...' and 'Miscellany' sections.
